Mark Holub

Drummer/Composer

So, yesterday was the debut performance of Blueblut….a new band with me and Pamelia Kurstin on theremin and Chris Janka on guitar….a fun night! Thanks everyone for coming along….and in due course there might be some sounds from that gig too….We are doing another gig next week at Symposium Lindabrunn, and this picture has something to do with it…Der Traum von Fliegen….

And some more debuts are coming up in the last week of May, the first being a gig by a band which I am sort of running called Lobster, it’s got some new tunes by me as well as by the other members…we are at the Porgy and Bess Strengen Kammer on May 27th:

Werner Zangerle - Sax
Irene Kepl - Violin
Bernd Satzinger - Bass
Mark Holub - Drums

, and that’s followed by another debut, a new improv duo with Irene Kepl, also at the Strengen Kammer on May 29th….see you there….

A couple of Led Bib gigs this weekend, Saturday in Katowice, Poland and then the long train ride from Poland to Halle, Germany for a double bill with Gutbucket! Very much looking forward to it!! Also, on the subject of Led Bib….we have launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund some special 10 year anniversary projects! Which will be a new CD and a limited edition live vinyl….we are really excited about the projects and hope you are too, so get more information and pledge here!

Just about to get on the plane to head off for a couple of gigs in the UK this week. First up is a masterclass and gig in Cardiff with Led Bib and then a few improv gigs in duo with Colin Webster and then finishing off with a helping of Mustard Pie….looking forward…..

22 March 2013 - Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff, UK workshop and concert with Led Bib

24 March 2013 The Cowley Club Brighton, UK with Colin Webster

25 March 2013 Vortex Jazz Club London, UK with Colin Webster

26 March 2013 The Cluny Newcastle, UK with Mustard Pie

According to something I found when I was trying to find a good picture for this post. “The Wirral Peninsular is the Beverley Hills of Merseyside.”

On this rather flying visit I doubt we will be able to sample the delights of the Wirral Peninsular, but I will be playing at the first ever Liverpool International Jazz Festival with Led Bib. The new music was sounding really good in London a few weeks ago, so I am looking forward to giving it another outing.

I was just in London working on the Undercurrents project for the Vortex Jazz Club. I am a sort of ‘Artist in Residence’ for an ensemble of young people from Hackney who will be performing before the Led Bib show at the Vortex on the 16th of February, while I am away they are working with some fantastic people too…Detta Danford, Michael Goodey and Gil Teixeira and I  am really looking forward to hearing what they come up with and hope you are too.

In the meantime, have a listen to this:
